Celebrate Spring With A Cute Crafting Project

Looking for a new hobby to enjoy this spring? Crafting is a fantastic way to spend your free time, helping to lower stress and promote well-being. Crafting can also offer a chance to meet new friends, with clubs springing up all over the country such as the popular Knit & Natter sessions held in many local libraries. Best of all, you’ll have the satisfaction of creating a unique handmade object, whether you decide to treasure your crafty creation at home, or gift it to someone special.

If you’re ready to experiment with a new crafting project, why not explore our latest range of Me to You craft kits? We’ve teamed up with award-winning designers in techniques such as quilting, felting and cross stitching to create a variety of kits to suit all abilities. Keep reading to discover more about our crafty collabs!

Macrame

This knotting technique has evolved over centuries, and it’s currently enjoying a revival. You don’t need any tools, just your hands - along with a willingness to learn different types of knots to create beautiful decorations including plant hangers, dream catchers, necklaces and belts. For an introduction to macrame, why not try the Me to You make-you-own macrame plant holder? This gift set includes everything you need to make a plant holder, along with a Tatty Teddy plant pot to slot inside the hanger. You just need to provide your own plant!

Needlework

Even if your sewing skills are limited, there are plenty of needlework-based crafting projects you might enjoy. Quilting involves joining patchworks of fabric together to create a colourful bedspread or throw. It’s surprisingly easy to pick up and super satisfying. If you’d like to add in some cute Tatty Teddy patchwork squares, take a look at these pretty Me to You bee-inspired ‘fat quarters’ (pre-cut fabric for quilting and crafting). Available from Hobbycraft, they’re perfect for springtime! You could even personalize your quilt further with a Tatty Teddy sew-on patch, available from Pawprint Family. These adorable patches are also great for customizing clothing, bags or blankets!

Crystal Art

Inspired by painting-by-numbers, crystal art involves using a delicate pick-up pen to add tiny rhinestones to a sticky template. It’s an intricate technique with gorgeous sparkly results. We’ve joined forces with Craft Buddy to design a range of Me to You Tatty Teddy Crystal Art Cards. Give the kit as a gift, or make a crystal art greeting card to give to someone you love!

Papercraft

Plenty of craft techniques require decorative paper, for example scrapbooking, card-making, art journaling and die-cutting. This Me to You Paper Pack is available at Hobbycraft and includes eight co-ordinating designs printed with soy-based ink. The artwork is plant-themed, harnessing the trend for indoor houseplants. Look carefully and you’ll spot Tatty Teddy carefully tending some much-loved plants!

Needle-felting

Imagine creating a cute sculpture using nothing but wool. This is the essence of needle-felting, a popular craft that anyone can try their hand at. You don’t need a huge amount of materials: unspun wool (known as ‘roving’), felting needles, scissors and some clear-drying glue are the basics. We’ve collaborated with The Makerss, experts in sustainable needle felting crafts, to develop an adorable kit that’s suitable for adult beginners and children over the age of ten. Once complete, you’ll be the proud owner of a captivating little Tatty Teddy holding a rainbow-striped heart. Discover the range here

We hope you’re feeling inspired to try a new hobby this spring. Happy crafting!
